Caminul Felix is a ministry that saves the lives of abandoned children of Romania by giving them a new mom and dad, and a new family.
You can find more information about Caminul Felix family villages on their website: www.caminulfelix.org. Sunflower Design is a part in Action Felix (www.actionfelix.org) which is connected to Caminul Felix. It is situated in Santandrei, 2 km from Oradea.
Sunflower Design started in 1996 by Lisa Egerbo. It was time for the first young women from Caminul Felix family villages to move out from their families.
It was quite hard to find a job at that time. Therefore, the girls started to learn sewing and began designing handcrafts and all the items they made were sold to visitors at Caminul Felix. In that way, the girls could be employed and get a salary.
Sunflower Design began in a small apartment in Baile Felix, close to Caminul Felix Village One. After outgrowing this space, they moved to the Caminul Felix Village Two Administration Building. In 2005, the product demand dictated a specially designed space for sewing equipment, textile storage and retail space.
Many young people have been working in the ministry during the years, some shorter, some longer time.
